Forged products trading

When ironworkers in Železniki established forged nail trade with distant places, they needed proper and durable packaging – wooden barrels. These were made by farmers and tenants in the surrounding areas. Several trade routes were established. The transportation of valuable cargo was dangerous. Because they were afraid of highway robbers, they traveled armed and in groups. A caravan usually counted about 20 horses and 15 guides.
